Imperial Museum: postcard of Petrópolis, is the former residence of the Brazilian royal family. With gardens lined with trees and plants of diverse species and lush halls, it has neoclassical decoration and preserved goods such as mahogany furniture, crystal glasses, crockery and cutlery. Among the most crowded spaces which holds the main part of the collection: the crown of D. Pedro II, with 639 shiny and 77 pearls, the work of the goldsmith Carlos Marin. The room also houses the gold scepter created for the coronation of Dom Pedro I in 1822. On nights from Thursday to Saturday, the palace is the setting for the show Som e Luzes.
Historical Center: the main buildings are spread over two avenues: Ipiranga, one of the main historical corridors of the city, gathers the Lutheran church, the House of Ipiranga and former residence of Rui Barbosa. And Avenida Koeler, which houses the palaces Rio Negro and Sérgio Fadel, besides the house of Princess Isabel. In the surroundings are the beautiful and gothic Cathedral de São Pedro de Alcântara, the house of Santos Dumont and the Palácio de Cristal, with glass and wire structures.
Parque Nacional Serra dos Órgãos: located in the municipalities of Petrópolis, Teresópolis, Guapimirim and Magé, it is the place for sports such as rappelling and canyoning. Trekking is among the most sought-after activities and there are options for athletes of all levels.
Parque Crémerie: located in the old Crémerie Buisson, the cheese factory of Jules Buisson, founded in 1845. With more than 40 thousand square meters, it is meeting point of residents during the summer. Among the attractions, sports courts, lake with paddle boats and perfect green area for picnics.
Fazenda Samambaia: 17th century farmhouse, perfect for family outings. It offers trails, swimming pool, mini-farm and exhibition of insects. There is the Capela de Santo Antônio, of Rococo style and the first of the city, with beautiful gardens of Burle Marx.
