Historic Center: to walk the streets of Olinda is the equivalent of returning to the Brazilian colonial past. Its old baroque houses and churches contributed to Olinda, the former capital of the state of Pernambuco, becoming a World Heritage Site.
Convento de São Francisco and Igreja da Nossa Senhora das Neves: Brazil's first Franciscan convent, the complex was founded in 1585. Highlights are the Portuguese tile panels which adorn the cloister and the sacristy, the paintings from the 18th century and the rich library.
Church and Monastery of São Bento: The church, was created in 1672, is attached to the Monastery of São Bento, built in 1599. After several renovations, the church ended up presenting different styles, neoclassical, baroque and rococo. The beautiful altar worked in cedar and covered with gold leaves was dismantled in 2002 and taken to New York to participate in a Brazilian art exhibition.
Museu do Mamulengo: mamulengo is a type of puppet typical of the Northeast region of Brazil. The museum was created in 1994 and is the first in the country dedicated to this type of art.
Catedral da Sé: the cathedral was built in the mid-16th century and has undergone several renovations. In its interior, we find gold-clad altars, Portuguese tiles and the tomb of D. Helder Câmara, famous archbishop of Olinda. It is created that way so, everybody who visits this church can admire one of the most magnificent views of Recife and Olinda and contemplate an unforgettable sunset.
