Summer is the best season, between the months of December to February. It is in this period that it is possible to observe the Tamar project biologists dropping newborn turtles in the sand.
The most likely period of rainy season extends from May to mid-July.
Between the months of July to October the region receives the visit of the humpback whales.
In November the attraction is the Spice festival at the Fort, at which point the cuisine invades the beach.
Praia do Forte has 14 km of white sands, crystal clear waters and many coconut trees; an invitation to long walks and sea bath. In this long stretch of beaches we can found many places perfect for surfing. In the area known as “Papa-gente”, the natural pools are an invitation to a good dive.
Tamar project Visitor Center: created to study and protect sea turtles, is a must. In an area of 10,000 square meters, where, between tanks and aquariums, 600,000 litres of salt water are home to 5 of 6 species of sea turtles, at different stages of the life cycle can be observed. The Tamar Centre, on the basis of biodiversity, the natural beauty and historical and cultural wealth, is one of the most visited of Brazil.
Tour by schooner, with biologists of the humpback whale Institute: to see the whales from close. Between the months of July to October they enjoy the warm waters to date, breed and suckle their young. The tour also includes a highly instructive lecture on the subject.
Reserva de Sapiranga: for lovers of the Atlantic forest, the Sapiranga reserve with 500 hectares and 10 tracks is an excellent choice. These trails can be covered on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or 4wheelers . Where animals like monkeys and Anteaters or flowers like orchids and bromeliads can be enjoyed.
For those who want more adventure, here, just get the jeep and head to the Rio Pojuca, for a swim, canoeing motorized, if risk on Zipline or do a kayaking.
In praia do Forte, a back to the past is not going to miss, just visit the Garcia D'AVILA Castle, built in 1549, which today host a Museum and a park. The chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição is an integral part of this space, with walkways that provide a magnificent view of the beach and its coconut groves.
In the late afternoon a good choice is the canoe in the lagoon Timeantube; the tour lasts 1:30; perfect to observe birds and a beautiful sunset.
When you want to do your shopping, coffee, dinner, the Centre of Praia do Forte, that was in the past fishermen's hangout, awaits you, with designer shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, such as the “Souza” famous for fish cakes.
