South of the state of Bahia, place of arrival of the first Portuguese to Brazil in 1500. Average annual temperature around 25 ºC/77°F.

 

All year round, but avoid the months of July and August due to the rains.

 

Historical Center: located on top of a cliff overlooking the waterfront, there is the landmark of the discovery, brought from Portugal in 1503, the Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Penha, from the 16th century, with a pottery tower brought from Macao. The former Casa de Câmara e Cadeia now houses the city's museum.

Praia do Mutá: 10km away from the center of Porto Seguro, is still poorly frequented, making it ideal for those who wants tranquility and for children. Its waters are warm, calm and transparent. Boat trips and ultralight are offered.

Praia da Coroa Vermelha: 14km away from the center of Porto Seguro, Coroa Vermelha is designated as the landing place of the expedition of Pedro Álvares Cabral in 1500. With natural pools protected by reefs and white sands, Coroa Vermelha was also the scene of the first mass prayed in Brazil.

Praia de Taperapuã: one of the most famous beaches of Porto Seguro, with waters of an endless blue and coconut trees, Taperapuã is ideal for those looking for excitement. There are stalls offering food and drinks, lots of music, lambaerobic tracks, stage shows. Taperapuã is synonymous with constant party.
