Honeymoon in Brazil: our itinerary ideas

A great honeymoon alternates highlights with real downtime. In Brazil, it’s tempting to try to see everything: it’s better to choose three or four stops and take the time to enjoy each one. Here are the ingredients our newlyweds love most.

A city to start: Rio de Janeiro

Rio is an ideal gateway: Sugarloaf Mountain at sunset, Christ the Redeemer, the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, the lanes of Santa Teresa and samba nights. Three nights are enough to enjoy it without rushing, in an oceanfront hotel or a charming boutique place up in the hills.

A touch of nature: Iguazu or the Amazon

For a spectacular interlude, Iguazu Falls are easy to add from Rio. For a more intimate experience, a few nights in an Amazon lodge offer a complete change of scenery, at the pace of the forest and the rivers.

A dream beach to finish

Fernando de Noronha is the great honeymoon classic: a protected archipelago with turquoise water, some of the country’s most beautiful beaches and exceptional marine life. Space is limited and prices are high, so you need to plan early.

Jericoacoara wins people over with its dunes, its lagoons and its sunsets, in a village with sand streets. Trancoso and Caraíva, in southern Bahia, combine wild beaches, elegant pousadas and a bohemian vibe. Finally, Paraty and Ilha Grande pair a colonial town with rainforest and coves you reach by boat.

  • Fernando de Noronha — The vibe: unspoiled nature and diving — Ideal for: ending the trip on a high note
  • Jericoacoara — The vibe: dunes, lagoons and a sandy village — Ideal for: combining relaxation and adventure
  • Trancoso and Caraíva — The vibe: chic, bohemian and wild beaches — Ideal for: charming pousadas
  • Paraty and Ilha Grande — The vibe: heritage, forest and coves — Ideal for: a shorter trip from Rio

How long and when to go?

Allow at least twelve to fifteen days for three or four stops. The best season depends on your destinations: September to February for Noronha and Bahia, July to December for Jericoacoara and the wind, June to September if you want to see the lagoons of the Lençóis Maranhenses. Also keep in mind the peak periods, such as New Year’s and Carnival.

Brazil Vip tip: Mention your honeymoon when you book: many hotels and pousadas have little extras in store for newlyweds, and we know how to pick the rooms with the best views.

Comfort first

A honeymoon deserves private transfers, domestic flights at convenient times and accommodations chosen one by one. This is exactly where a local agency makes the difference: we know the places, the rooms and the details that turn a beautiful trip into a memory for life.

Brazil Vip tip: Keep at least two days with nothing planned, ideally on the beach at the end of the trip. After all the wedding preparations, you won’t regret it.
