By canoe — The igarapés and igapós

In a traditional paddle canoe, you follow the igarapés, the small streams that wind through the forest. During the high-water season, you can also paddle into the igapós, the seasonally flooded forests.
Monkeys, sloths and birds may appear along the way.
Included: part of your stay.
Encounter — The community of Vila do Acajatuba
Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro
A visit to a small riverside community to learn how it is organized, what daily life is like and its close ties to the rivers and the forest.
Included: part of your stay.
By night — Nocturnal wildlife spotting
Rio Negro
At nightfall, a canoe outing by flashlight: frogs, night birds and caimans often make an appearance. On clear nights, the starry sky completes the experience.
Included: part of your stay.
Local know-how — Cassava flour and medicinal plants
Local community
Cassava is at the heart of the regional diet: you’ll see the steps that turn it into flour, tapioca, beiju or tucupi.
The visit continues in a garden of plants traditionally used for their medicinal properties.
Included: part of your stay.
By canoe — Piranha fishing
Amazon lakes
Recreational fishing for piranhas and other lake fish, in spots chosen by your guide according to the day’s conditions.
Included: part of your stay.
Wildlife — Pink river dolphins
Rio Negro
In search of the boto, the Amazon pink river dolphin, which swims freely in the lakes and waterways of the region.
In keeping with responsible tourism, the activity consists solely of observing them in their natural habitat, with no direct interaction.
Included: part of your stay.
On foot — Hike in the igapó forest
Igapó forest
With a local guide, you’ll learn to recognize the vegetation of this forest shaped by changing water levels and to spot signs of wildlife: birds, monkeys, sloths and, with a little luck, more elusive species.
Included: part of your stay.
At daybreak — Sunrise over the Rio Negro
Rio Negro
For early risers, a motorized canoe outing to watch the forest wake up and the first light appear on the water.
Optional: an outing you can choose to join, with a very early start.
Late afternoon — Sunset over the Rio Negro
Rio Negro
A boat ride as the last light reflects on the river, with another chance to observe nature before returning to the lodge.
