For starters, after visiting the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro, departure to the North Pantanal, the largest wetland on the planet. The Pantanal is one of the most spectacular regions of Brazil because it is a region as rich as the Amazon when it comes to fauna and flora. The Pantanal has about 80 species of mammals, including the rare Jaguar.

Finally, after 5 days in the Pantanal, you’ll hit the road to Salvador. Contact with local and culture of Bahia, its fortifications, museums, colorful houses and centuries old churches. For those who love the beach and relaxation, we recommend at the end of the stay a few nights in Praia do Forte or Imbassaí, close to Salvador.

Day 1: Arrival - Rio de Janeiro

Arrival at the airport of Rio de Janeiro. Welcome by a English-speaking guide and private transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is free.

Day 2: Rio de Janeiro Tours

Day of tours in Rio de Janeiro:

  • Sugar Loaf: The famous Sugar Loaf cable car is the most used way to reach the top of this mountain at 1296 meters above sea level, from where a view 360 degrees allows to appreciate the beautiful forests of the city, beaches and part of the great metropolis of Rio de Janeiro.
  • Christ the Redeemer: As a guardian angel of the city, Christ the Redeemer is a 38-meter high statue located at the top of Corcovado, a mountain 710 meters above sea level. Inaugurated in 1931, Christ Redeemer is the most famous image of Rio de Janeiro.
  • Botanical Garden: one of the richest and most important botanical gardens in the world, home to about 6500 species of Brazilian and foreign flora.

Day 3: Day in Rio

Free day in Rio de Janeiro.

Day 4: End of the stay in Rio and travel to Cuiabá

After breakfast, private transfer to Rio de Janeiro airport.

Flight to Cuiabá.

Arrival at Cuiabá airport. Transfer to Pousada Araras, in the heart of the Pantanal.

On the way through the “Transpantaneira”, a few stops for the observation of wildlife and landscape off the comum.

At the Pousada, take a stroll around the area to learn about the preservation projects and visit the “Mirante da Garça” (observatory) to admire the beautiful sunset of the region.

After dinner “pantaneiro” (typical), hike to observe life and nightlife, illuminated by the light of the stars.

Day 5: Pantanal, walk and fishing

Day tour in the Pantanal:

  • Rio Clarinho: boat trip on the river “Clarinho” to observe the ciliary forest, mangrove and giant otters.
    • Peaches with piranhas: fun and stimulating activity; they are specialists in the theft of the fisherman’s hook.

Lunch: barbecue by the river. *

After the relaxing rest in the armed nets at the edge of the river, return to the Pousada.

Hike to the “Bugio” Tower 25m high: magnificent view of the Pantanal.

After dinner: Safari for watching nocturnal animals.

Day 6: Pantanal, horseback ride, discovery of the region

Day tour in the Pantanal:

  • Riding on trails that cross various areas, possibly through flooded areas. A morning of adventures and discoveries.
    • Afternoon: walk to the “Tuiuiu” tower, 13.5 m high, where you can admire the place where a couple Tuiuiús (birds typical of the region) made their nest.

Dinner at the Pousada and well-deserved rest.

Day 7: Pantanal, Jaguar

After breakfast, departure by air-conditioned vehicle to the rivers “Cuiabá and Piquiri” for a river safari.

Navigating through rivers and canals in search of the third largest feline on the planet, the jaguar.

Lunch: a delicious and enhanced snack prepared by the Pousada.

Return around 5 p.m.

Dinner at the Pousada.

Day 8: From Pantanal to Salvador

Walk at dawn to enjoy the beautiful sunrise in this incredible ecosystem.

Breakfast at the Pousada.

Flight to Salvador.

Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 9: Tours in Salvador

Day of tours in Salvador.

  • Visit of the “Upper City”: the “old” Salvador, in the center of the city, former place of punishment of slaves and today the heart of the Carnival of Bahia. The visit is on foot between the picturesque streets with the discovery of the church of São Francisco and the Pelourinho (central square of the city – cultural heritage by UNESCO) which will allow to know the cultural aspects of Bahia, its traditions and its mystical side.
    • Visit of the “Lower Town”: the modern part of the city with its natural and architectural contrasts. Passage through Bonfim Church, São Joaquim Market and Lacerda Elevator.

Day 10: Salvador - Free

Free day in Salvador.
